چکیده
This article is a commentary on our previous work entitled “Reassessment of oxidation-induced amorphization and dissolution Nb precipitates in Zr-Nb nuclear fuel cladding tube”, published Acta Materialia 2017. The highlight this 2017 paper discovery that solid-state can occur even when the motion atoms (or more precisely, all constituent elements amorphous material) not frozen-in. Although judging from highlight, fundamental study materials, it was originally performed under an engineering research program irrelevant to amorphous. inside story revealed: how such born out research.

EELS study of niobium carbo-nitride nano-precipitates in ferrite.
Micro-alloying steels allow higher strength to be achieved, with lower carbon contents, without a loss in toughness, weldability or formability through the generation of a fine ferrite grain size with additional strengthening being provided by the fine scale precipitation of complex carbo-nitride particles. Niobium is reported to be the most efficient micro-alloying element to achieve refinemen...

Consider a substitutional solution of two metallic elements A and B. When the alloy is exposed to air at an elevated temperature, A oxidizes, but B does not. In the alloy, the two elements diffuse in opposite directions, but usually at different rates; the nonreciprocal diffusion is known as the Kirkendall effect. At the oxide-alloy interface, metallic atoms may either emit from or inject into ...

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the world’s most widely produced polymers and it is used in a wide range of areas such as building, transport, packaging, electrical/electronic and healthcare. Manufacturing of PVC products is dependent on several additives, e.g. plasticizers, heat stabilizers and flame retardants. To reduce the migration of additives in PVC products the incorporation of a nan...

متن کاملX-ray Analysis of Precipitates Formed in Copper-base Alloys
The formation and growth process of precipitates in Cu-Ni-Si alloys during aging were investigated by anomalous small angle scattering (ASAXS) and X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS). ä-Ni2Si precipitates with wide nanometer size distribution were formed in the Cu-Ni-Si alloys after a long aging time of 10 s. However, the addition of a small amount of Fe appears to reduce the wide-size distr...
